You’re invited to submit your abstract for consideration at the 2027 Annual Congress, held Aug. 8-12, 2027, in New Orleans, LA, where the latest, cutting-edge clinical anesthesia knowledge will be presented!
This year, we are especially soliciting evidence-based presentations in obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, rural practice, pharmacology, pain management, and technology advancements in anesthesia across career stages.

To support diverse learning styles and enhance attendee engagement, Annual Congress 2027 will feature three presentation categories, which can take different shapes (examples are below). If your session could fit in more than one format, choose the one which best matches how participants will learn, not just the content you plan to cover.

Panels
AANA will not accept panel-format abstract submissions in 2027. If you’d like to be considered for an AANA-curated expert panel discussion, please complete our Call for Subject Matter Experts form.
The Professional Development Committee is soliciting abstracts focused on various hot topics, with emphasis on obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, pain management, and rural practice, and other specialty topics at the novice, mid-career, and expert level, as well as RRNA-focused sessions. The following are some examples of how to shape a presentation using the formats outlined.
Parade First Line: Share emerging evidence, evolving standards of care, and practice innovations related to complex patient populations and specialty anesthesia care that are at the forefront of our profession. Topics highlighting obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, regional anesthesia, pain management, rural practice, pharmacology, pathophysiology, illness, and disease processes and anesthesia, clinical education, RRNA-focused content, “Year in” review* presentations, and other advanced clinical areas that impact contemporary practice.
Stories That Stay with Us: Engage attendees through compelling clinical studies that demonstrate the integration of evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, patient safety principles, and professional growth. Formats such as The Case I’ll Never Forget, master classes, TED-style talks, and other case-based presentations are encouraged to highlight critical clinical lessons, emerging evidence, quality improvement efforts, and experiences that have challenged assumptions, influenced decision-making, or resulted in meaningful changes to anesthesia practice and patient care outcomes.
Leading the Band: Present the latest developments, guideline changes, and evolving standards of care shaping anesthesia practice. Debates, expert forums, and presentations addressing controversial topics, differing approaches, guideline updates, and future directions in anesthesia care are particularly welcomed. Topics that spotlight original CRNA-led research, implementation science, evidence-based professional practice, artificial intelligence, clinical informatics, digital health solutions, advanced monitoring skills, ultrasound-guided practice, assessment, and procedural skill development and other technologies and innovations that enhance patient care, clinical decision-making, and operational efficiency.
Rising Together: Explore strategies that enhance patient outcomes, strengthen safety culture, and support excellence across nurse anesthesiology practice. Submissions should emphasize evidence-based approaches, systems thinking, professional growth, and practical strategies that promote safer care, resilient clinicians, and sustainable practice environments. Topics that emphasize dignity, empowerment, accessibility, respect, and may include human factors, crisis resource management, patient safety, quality improvement initiatives, adverse event analysis, career longevity, leadership development, mentorship, resident and faculty development. Initiatives that advance the profession will be considered.
