Mayo Clinic Arizona CRNA Recruitment a Look Forward and Back

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)/nurse anesthesiologists is projected to grow by 35% from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2025). This demand is partially driven by an aging population and the increasing need for healthcare services.

Although Mayo Clinic has hospitals in Rochester, MN; Jacksonville, FL; and Phoenix, AZ, the population in its Phoenix, Arizona location has grown to approximately 1.6 million since the COVID-19 pandemic, making it the fifth largest city in the U.S. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2023). Coupled with Mayo Clinic Arizona’s continued growth and bold forward initiatives, CRNA/nurse anesthesiologist recruitment and retention has become a high priority.
