July 17, 2025 Rosemont, Ill. – The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) will present Jana Conover with its first ever Staff Excellence Award during its 2025 Annual Congress, Aug. 9-13, in Nashville. The Staff Excellence Award is designed to recognize the excellent staff of AANA who have diligently served its members and moved the profession of nurse anesthesiology forward. This award confers honorary membership to the recipient at the end of their employment with AANA provided they remain in good standing until that time. In her role as AANA’s Senior Associate Director of State Government Affairs, Conover reviews and analyzes state legislation and regulations that affect Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), also known as nurse anesthesiologists or nurse anesthetists, working closely with the AANA’s state associations and members to advance state advocacy goals. She provides strategic consultation and resources to state leaders to advance nurse anesthesiology at the state level and assists in staffing the AANA’s Government Relations Committee. Conover began her career with AANA in 1992, demonstrating exceptional service and dedication and significantly influencing CRNA practice through her expertise in reviewing legislation and regulations. Her work has proved invaluable to the State Government Affairs team. She received a BA in English from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. “The nurse anesthesia profession is important to the delivery of patient care, and I am proud to have served it over the course of my career. It’s an incredible honor to work with so many passionate and inspiring leaders in nurse anesthesia. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of AANA,” Conover said.
