Personal Statement Esteemed CRNA Colleagues,
Serving on the AANA Board of Directors has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. I am proud to be an engaged, prepared, and accessible board member; one who shows up having read the materials, studied the data, and ready to thoughtfully deliberate on behalf of our 65,000 CRNAs and residents. Leadership requires presence, preparation, and partnership.
Throughout my service, I have worked intentionally across the cross-section of our profession, connecting with nurse anesthesia residents, educators, early-career CRNAs, practice owners, and seasoned clinicians. Our strength lies in that diversity of perspective. As President-elect, I will continue building bridges across practice settings and career stages.
I am proud of the meaningful progress we have advanced together. Our reimbursement advocacy efforts remain active and strategic, aimed at enforcing provider nondiscrimination protections and defending CRNA reimbursement. While this work is not yet resolved, it reflects our commitment to protecting access, fairness, and the long-term sustainability of our profession. We have also strengthened AANA’s financial position. Non-dues revenue continues to grow, placing the Association on more secure and diversified financial footing. Additionally, as a member of the State Organizational Development Committee (SODC), I supported enhancements to the evaluation rubric used to assess state funding requests, recalibrating our approach to better measure impact, accountability, and return on investment so that resources are deployed strategically and equitably.
Looking ahead, my focus remains clear: disciplined execution of our strategic plan. We must continue delivering relevant, high-value educational programming; maintain strong collaboration with the NBCRNA and COA to balance workforce demand with training excellence; and ensure state associations have equitable access to resources and financial alignment.
Beyond AANA, my service as an elected county coroner and as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve has strengthened my ability to navigate complex systems, speak with legislators, and lead in high-stakes environments. These experiences reinforce my commitment to principled, prepared, and mission-focused leadership.
I respectfully ask for your support as AANA President-elect.

Personal Statement Over the last five years, I have served on the AANA Board in various capacities – first as the Region 1 director, then as AANA Treasurer, and now I’m currently in my second year as the Region 7 Director. Honestly, I can say I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of something very special at AANA as we continue to excel overall as a professional organization, more so than we have in many years. I attribute these successes to the underlying theme of a unified AANA that is ‘rowing in the same direction’. We are winning in many aspects of the association and profession, and I predict only more wins are on the way! This is a testament to the board leadership and the various skillsets that each board member has brought to the table during that time. I have been able to personally contribute a unique background of leadership experience that is all-inclusive of business administration, clinical expertise, academics, and legislative advocacy. As the board has come to know me as “The Rocket”, I bring a contagious, high level of energy that constantly encourages us to explore innovative options and maximize our potential in the most efficient ways possible. My belief is that our organization would continue to benefit from the continuity of my leadership experience and style. And I am confident, now more than ever, that I’m ready to serve in the AANA president-elect position, and ultimately as your AANA president. I hope you’ve noticed and felt many of the recent successes from your AANA Board these recent years, and that my servant leadership has been reflected adequately. I humbly ask you for your support once more to help keep this palpable momentum going – LET’S DO THIS!

Personal Statement As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist who is deeply passionate about our profession, I am honored to announce that I am seeking election for the position of Vice President of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. My vision is built on advocacy, collaboration, and engagement—ensuring that every CRNA feels supported, valued, and equipped to provide the highest quality anesthesia care, no matter where they practice.
Throughout my years of involvement with the AANA, I’ve made it a priority to connect with CRNAs, RRNAs, and state associations across the country. Leadership in our association begins with being present, listening, and engaging with our members. It is imperative that AANA leaders must remain accessible and approachable to all members. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking at numerous state association meetings and visiting more than a dozen universities to talk about advocacy, professional engagement, and the power of membership in our association.

Current Employment: RDC Anesthesia Services LLC, Owner/CRNA, 2022-present; United States Army Reserves, CRNA, 2009-26; Iowa Anesthesia LLC, Staff CRNA, 2013-22.
Personal Statement My candidacy for Vice President is forged in 36 years of military service, 17 years of clinical anesthesia practice, and 17 years as an active, committed member of the AANA. I have served where the stakes are highest—from the intensity of a Level I trauma center to the isolation of rural solo practice and independent 1099 locums. These experiences provide more than a resume; they offer firsthand knowledge of the pressures and realities our members face daily.
Military service did more than shape my character; it forged a decisive, battle-tested leadership. As a retired Lieutenant Colonel, I learned to lead in uncertainty, making high-consequence decisions to protect the mission without hesitation. That disciplined, unwavering approach guides me in both the operating room and the boardroom.
Strategic and Financial Oversight: As AANA treasurer, I have fiercely upheld the fiduciary trust of our members. Strong governance demands vigilance, fiscal discipline, and absolute transparency. Having served through two strategic planning cycles and two years on the Finance Committee, I know exactly how to diversify revenue and safeguard our reserves to ensure long-term stability.
The Philosophy of Leadership: Leadership is not a title; it is preparation. My career is built on deliberate succession planning—developing the next generation of leaders, ensuring continuity, and strengthening this institution beyond any one individual. As your vice president, I will apply this same strategic rigor to our national strategy and policy development.
Advocacy and Legacy: As a former state association president and member of the State Organization Development Committee, I refuse to overlook the operational realities facing our state affiliates. I honor the AANA’s legacy while aggressively preparing for its next chapter. I bring member voices into the boardroom to advocate for decisions that serve the entire profession.
I am ready to leverage my experience in military doctrine, state leadership, and national finance to be your next vice president.

Current Employment: Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA, through 360 Anesthesia, Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia, 2020–present; University of Cincinnati, Associate Professor in DNP Program, 2023–present.
Personal Statement I am running for AANA vice president because I believe strong governance is the backbone of a profession that intends to lead rather than react.
Governance is not abstract to me. I have served on boards, built boards, and lived with the long-term consequences of decisions made at the governance level. I am a co-founder of two nonprofit organizations that continue to operate with active, functional boards today. The most significant of these is the Society of Obstetric Nurse Anesthesiology and Research (SONAR), a journey that has taught me how to lead without fear. I also co-own a manufacturing plant started from the ground up.
My experience has required strategic planning, financial stewardship, clarity of mission, and the ability to navigate competing priorities without losing sight of long-term impact. It has also required knowing when to listen, when to challenge assumptions, and when to bring in voices that are not already at the table.
Governance is the role of the vice president. The AANA vice president stands behind and upholds the collective voice of the organization. My experience on the AANA board and my work in the CRNA community make me uniquely qualified to attack this role. We do not exist in isolation, and neither should our solutions. I believe our profession is strongest when we resist siloed thinking and instead apply a global perspective informed by data, frontline experience, and diverse stakeholder input. This approach has guided my work in education, clinical practice, research, and professional advocacy.
As vice president, I would bring a steady focus on governance that is transparent, strategic, and future-oriented. Anyone who knows me knows I value collaboration. I believe boards function best when they ask hard questions, plan beyond election cycles, and remain anchored to the profession’s core responsibility to patients and communities. The work the board has done in recent years to increase our professional presence is a great start, but so much more can be done.
I am committed to helping lead AANA with intention, integrity, and a long view of what nurse anesthesiology must become to remain strong.

Current Employment: Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Associate Professor, 2023–present; DreamLion Anesthesia & Wellness, Owner, 2021–present.
Personal Statement Strong advocacy requires strong finances. I am running for AANA treasurer to protect and invest member dues to maximize impact across the scope of practice, reimbursement, patient access, and the next generation of CRNAs.
As AANA enters a new Strategic Plan cycle, policy and payer threats are rising, educational funding is under pressure, and agility matters more than ever. Members expect visible progress and confidence that resources are managed wisely. As Treasurer, my approach is simple and disciplined: Protect. Invest. Win.
Protect: I lead with both heart and discerning judgment. That means asking hard questions, grounding decisions in data and real-world practice, and insisting on accountability. As treasurer, I will support clear reserve and liquidity targets, rigorous audits, multi-year forecasting, and objective evaluation of major initiatives. We will fund what works, sunset what does not, and prioritize outcomes over optics.
Invest: Sustained advocacy requires a credible war chest and purposeful budgeting. On the AANA Board, I helped advance payer parity, confront provider discrimination, and challenge harmful policies because protecting practice takes persistence. I have also supported faculty development and new-graduate success programs, because long-term strength depends on investing in people through workforce growth, mentorship, and leadership development.
Win: Members deserve to see results. I will advocate for plain-language financial summaries, year-over-year dashboards aligned with Strategic Plan goals, and outcome-based reporting. I will also pursue mission-aligned partnerships and non-dues revenue strategies so that AANA can invest without overreliance on dues.
I have seen this work from every level: local, state, and national. When states are strong, every member is stronger. I am proud to have helped lead the modernization of AANA state support, improving access to strategic reserves and organizational assistance. Next, we should continue strengthening states not only fiscally but also strategically by building capabilities and support systems to help every state succeed.
I strive to be a steady, ego-free voice of reason. I collaborate, give credit freely, and choose what is right for the profession over what is loud. If you want principled stewardship and a steady hand you can trust, I would be honored to earn your vote.

Current Employment: Guide Anesthesia, Chief Growth Officer, 2014-present.
Personal Statement I am seeking the position of treasurer because I believe the financial stewardship of our association is inseparable from the advocacy outcomes we deliver for every CRNA in practice.
As chief growth officer of Guide Anesthesia, a CRNA-owned platform operating across three states with approximately 300 providers, I live at the connection of clinical practice and financial strategy. Every day I negotiate payer contracts, project anesthesia model financial performance, and make decisions that fundamentally influence whether CRNAs function autonomously.
This experience has shaped my thinking: financial decisions are never just financial. Every dollar allocated, every contract structured, every budget line prioritized either advances or constrains our profession’s ability to advocate, educate, and grow to create value for patients and facilities.
At Guide, I have built financial models that quantify the value CRNAs bring to facilities, payers, and patients. I have navigated the complexities of competitive positioning against groups not aligned with the values of high-quality service, autonomy, and teamwork. These are not abstract exercises. They are the same dynamics that determine whether AANA’s advocacy investments translate into meaningful legislative and regulatory wins.
I bring a practitioner’s understanding of how association finances connect to the daily realities of our members. I know what it costs to recruit and retain CRNAs. I understand the margin pressures facing independent practices and departments. I see how payer consolidation threatens practice autonomy. This ground-level financial fluency, combined with my experience scaling a multi-state organization, positions me to ensure AANA’s resources are deployed with both fiscal discipline and strategic purpose.
Our association deserves leaders who understand how financial decisions shape the future of nurse anesthesiology. I am committed to that standard.

Personal Statement I am honored to seek the position of treasurer, and I want to begin by expressing my sincere appreciation for the trust you have already placed in me by electing me to the Board of Directors. That trust matters. It fuels my determination to lead with integrity, transparency, and unwavering accountability. As treasurer, I will bring the same strength, clarity, and discipline that define my work on the Board.
Our association benefits from a capable finance department that manages daily operations. The treasurer’s role is not to perform those tasks—it is to provide strategic oversight and ensure that our financial direction is sound, transparent, and aligned with our mission. I am fully prepared to take on that responsibility. That includes making hard financial decisions when necessary. I do not hesitate in those moments. I make decisions grounded in data, fairness, and the long-term health of our organization.
Members deserve absolute confidence in how resources are managed. That takes clear, consistent reporting and ensures that financial information is accessible, accurate, and timely. I will work directly with the finance department, the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and committees to strengthen our resources and ensure that every financial choice reflects our shared priorities.
My leadership is collaborative but also decisive. I believe in responsible stewardship—protecting our resources while positioning us for growth. I will address challenges directly and ensure that clarity and discipline guide our financial decisions. I will bring focus, discipline, and a strong ethical compass to every discussion and every decision.
Trust is earned through action, and I intend to earn it every day.
Thank you again for the privilege of serving on the board. With your support, I am ready to step into the role of Treasurer with confidence, conviction, and a firm commitment to strengthening the financial foundation that allows our association to thrive.

Personal Statement I am running for AANA Director with a focused agenda to strengthen unity, protect our scope of practice, and position CRNAs as essential leaders in an increasingly complex healthcare environment.
As a first generation American and first in my family to attend college, I was built on discipline, resilience, and hard work, and I bring those same values to my leadership and my commitment to advancing our profession.
As a practicing CRNA for 21 years, I understand the realities facing our profession, including workforce shortages, evolving payment models with decreased reimbursement, and increasing regulatory complexity. My leadership is grounded in real world clinical experience, strengthened through advocacy, and focused on results that matter to our members and patients.
I believe every CRNA should be able to practice to the full extent of their education, training and expertise. I have built bipartisan relationships with legislators and key stakeholders, advancing policies that expand patient access, strengthen workforce stability, and defend our professional autonomy. I participated in more than 40 advocacy engagements this past year because progress requires consistent presence and action.
As both a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Family Nurse Practitioner, I represent a broader APRN population, strengthening our collective voice and amplifying advocacy across the profession.
I serve as a Trustee for William Rainey Harper College, an elected public office in Illinois, where I help govern an institution serving more than 27,000 students, 600,000 constituents, with oversight of over 180 million dollars in public funding. In this role, I engage in high level policy discussions with federal and state agencies, including the Department of Education and Department of Labor, elevating the CRNA voice in critical workforce and education policy decisions—spaces where CRNAs have not traditionally been represented and where new opportunities for influence are emerging.
As a member of the AANA Political Action Committee, I support coordinated national efforts to defend and advance CRNAs. Contributing to the PAC is essential, as an Ambassador level supporter, I am committed to strengthening our collective influence.
I am committed to unifying all AANA members and I reject divisive politics that weaken our collective voice.
With Executive MBA training and certification in AI in Healthcare, I bring a forward looking, strategic perspective on innovation, governance, and the future of anesthesia care.
I am ready to lead with transparency, accountability, and results. I ask for your support and your vote.

At the state level, my long-standing involvement with the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists has prepared me well for regional leadership. I have served as Treasurer, Director, President-Elect, President, Immediate Past President, Government Relations Committee Co-Chair, and currently as State Reimbursement Specialist. Through these roles, I have worked collaboratively with CRNAs, legislators, and healthcare stakeholders to promote full practice authority, protect reimbursement, and advance patient access to high-quality anesthesia care.
As Director of Technology & Simulation and Clinical Assistant Professor at Old Dominion University, I remain deeply engaged in educating and mentoring the next generation of nurse anesthesiologists. My commitment to evidence-based practice, workforce research, rural access, and professional development reflects my belief that strong leadership must be informed by data, grounded in service, and focused on the future.
If elected, I will prioritize transparent communication, member engagement, leadership development, and advocacy that supports CRNAs across diverse practice settings. I will listen thoughtfully, represent our region with integrity, and work collaboratively to ensure the AANA continues to lead with strength and vision.
It would be my privilege to serve our members and advance the mission of the AANA as a Director.

Every chapter of my career: military, political, and organizational, has prepared me to lead at the national level with focus, integrity, and impact.

Current Employment: NorthStar Anesthesia/Inova Fairfax Hospital Medical Campus, Senior Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), 1987-present.
Personal Statement As a practicing CRNA, my career has been defined by the high-stakes environment of a Level 1 Trauma Center. As a Senior Nurse Anesthetist and a core member of the overnight in-house trauma team, I have dedicated my career to the art and science of anesthesia during the hours when patients are often at their most vulnerable. From emergency surgeries and organ transplantations to life-saving cesarean sections, my clinical practice is rooted in a commitment to excellence, precision, and unwavering patient advocacy.
My journey is built upon a robust academic foundation, beginning with my BSN at Florida State University and culminating in a DNP from Quinnipiac University. These academic milestones have not only sharpened my clinical acumen but have also fueled my passion for clinical education. I am particularly proud of my role as a member of the founding cohort that established the Nurse Anesthesia program at Georgetown University, where I also served as clinical faculty. To me, mentoring the next generation of CRNAs is not just a responsibility; it is a vital investment in the future of our profession.
Beyond the operating room, I am deeply committed to advancing nurse anesthesiology through strategic leadership, mentorship, and innovation. My service within the AANA—including my tenure as Chair of the Leadership Identification and Bylaws and Resolutions Committees and my current role on the Communication and Fellows Selection Committees—has enabled me to help shape the professional standards, cultivate emerging leaders, and strengthen the future of our specialty. My term as President of the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists allowed me to advocate for the profession within the Commonwealth, a mission I continue to support through committee work.

Personal Statement Dear Colleagues,
When we come together, we strengthen our profession. That belief is what guides my decision to seek election as a director on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Board of Directors. For nearly 25 years, I have practiced, taught, led, and advocated for nurse anesthesiology. I have worked in busy clinical settings, served veterans in the VA system, and led a doctoral program through growth and reaccreditation. Across those roles, one lesson stands out: when we stay focused on our profession and support one another, we build lasting progress.
When we come together, we succeed. From California to Kansas, New Mexico to Ohio, CRNAs have secured meaningful gains that protect practice authority and strengthen reimbursement. Those wins required discipline and a unified voice. At the same time, we continue to face real pressure. Payer sources pursue unlawful reimbursement cuts. Organized AA legislative efforts seek to expand their scope and blur the distinction between independent nurse anesthesiologists and dependent practitioners. Antiquated practice restrictions remain embedded in outdated bylaws and regulatory language. These challenges require steady leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to protecting what defines us.
When we come together, we advance. Within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), continued recognition of CRNA autonomy is expanding timely access to anesthesia services for those who have served our nation. Caring for veterans has shaped my understanding of what access truly means. Our veterans deserve high-quality care without unnecessary barriers. We must continue advancing policy to remove the remaining practice restrictions within the VHA and pursue a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services national opt-out so CRNAs can practice to the full extent of their education and training without antiquated regulations that stifle progress and limit healthcare system choice.
When we come together, we move from principle to action. If elected, I will focus on three priorities: ensuring provider nondiscrimination in payer reimbursement, protecting equitable learning opportunities for nurse anesthesia residents, and advancing policy reforms that eliminate unnecessary practice restrictions nationwide.
When we come together, we win. I will lead with transparency, discipline, and respect, keeping nurse anesthesiology at the center of every decision.

Current Employment: NorthStar Anesthesia, Chief CRNA and Division Recruiting Coordinator, 2022-present (Chief since 2026; Division Recruiting Coordinator since 2025).
Personal Statement I am honored to submit my candidacy for director on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Board of Directors. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and former president of the Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, I am committed to strong advocacy, protecting patient access to safe anesthesia care, and supporting the mission and strategic vision of the AANA.
Serving as a state president provided me with valuable experience in governance, advocacy, and organizational leadership. In this role, I have worked closely with legislators, regulators, healthcare leaders, and AANA partners to strengthen CRNA practice authority, address legislative and regulatory challenges, and elevate the visibility of nurse anesthesiology. Building productive, respectful relationships — even in difficult and politically complex environments — has been essential to achieving positive outcomes for our members and the patients we serve. These experiences have reinforced my belief in transparent leadership, fiscal responsibility, and collaboration at both the state and national levels.
Before entering nurse anesthesiology, I served on the women’s basketball coaching staff at the University of Central Florida, an experience that profoundly shaped my leadership style. Coaching taught me how to build cohesive teams, develop talent, manage conflict, and lead under pressure — skills that directly translate to effective board service. Coaching instilled in me the importance of preparation, accountability, and empowering others to perform at their highest level in pursuit of a common vision and shared goal.
Additionally, my background in public relations and recruiting has strengthened my ability to communicate strategically, build relationships with members and legislators, and connect with diverse audiences. These skills are especially important as the AANA advocates for our profession, educates the public and recruits and retains future nurse anesthesiologists.
Advocacy remains central to my commitment to the AANA. I am passionate about protecting CRNA autonomy, promoting equitable access to anesthesia care, and ensuring that nurse anesthesiologists maintain a strong, respected voice in healthcare policy discussions.
If elected, I will serve with integrity, energy, and respect for the trust placed in me by AANA members. I would be honored to contribute my leadership experience and perspective to advancing the future of nurse anesthesiology.

Current Employment: Franciscan Health, Michigan City, CRNA, 2023-present.
Personal Statement I am honored to submit my application for AANA Director. My career as a CRNA has been grounded in clinical excellence, professional advocacy, and strategic leadership. Through progressive leadership roles within the Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists (MANA): district director, president-elect, president, and now immediate past president, I have developed the experience and relationships necessary to effectively serve our profession at the national level.
As a practicing CRNA, I bring frontline perspective, sound clinical judgment, and a clear understanding of the regulatory and reimbursement challenges affecting anesthesia practice. I approach leadership as I approach patient care: prepared, evidence-informed, collaborative, and outcome-driven.
During my presidency, I strengthened legislative engagement and expanded MANA’s influence across Michigan’s healthcare landscape. I led the successful effort for MANA to become a member of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA), securing CRNA representation on two MHA committees. This strategic advancement has ensured that CRNAs have a respected seat at the table in statewide hospital policy discussions and that our voice is present where key healthcare decisions are shaped. Establishing this structural influence elevated CRNA visibility and credibility within organized healthcare leadership.
In parallel, I have cultivated productive relationships with state and federal representatives, senators, and legislative staff. These relationships allow me to communicate the value of CRNAs with clarity and authority, advocate effectively on scope of practice and reimbursement issues, and advance patient access to safe, high-quality anesthesia care.
I lead with professionalism, preparation, and integrity. I am comfortable engaging in complex policy discussions, navigating governance structures, and building consensus among diverse stakeholders. My commitment is to ensure strong communication between AANA and state associations and to represent our members with confidence and strategic foresight.
It would be a privilege to serve as Director and continue advancing our profession’s influence and impact.

Personal Statement It is an honor to be considered for the AANA Leadership Identification Committee role. Throughout my journey from student registered nurse anesthetist to practicing CRNA, I have consistently sought opportunities to serve, uplift, and advocate for our profession at both the state and national levels.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in three core values: equity, service, and stewardship. I believe leadership is not merely about position, but about responsibility — the responsibility to recognize emerging talent, cultivate diverse voices, and ensure that our professional pipeline reflects the breadth and strength of our membership.
My experiences in advocacy, including participation in legislative efforts and national committee work, have shown me how critical intentional leadership development is to the long-term stability and expansion of CRNA practice authority. Policy wins do not happen in isolation; they are the result of years of leadership cultivation, mentorship, and strategic succession planning. I am deeply committed to identifying and encouraging individuals who may not yet see themselves as leaders — especially those from underrepresented or nontraditional backgrounds — and helping them recognize their capacity to shape our profession.
As a first-generation Filipino-American CRNA, I understand the power of representation and the importance of being invited into spaces where decisions are made. My lived experience, combined with my commitment to advocacy and professional excellence, has strengthened my ability to listen thoughtfully, evaluate candidates holistically, and prioritize both competence and character in leadership identification.

As an AANA Fellow, I have served as the chair of AANA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, a founding member of National Black Nurses Association of Greater New York City (GNYCBNA), and president of the Emory University School of Nursing Alumni Board. Through my professional work, community involvement, and public speaking, I serve as a prominent voice and advocate. Today, I lead this initiative through the Bigger Dreams, Better Tomorrows Foundation, Inc. as well as my interdisciplinary work curating the annual Multicultural CRNA Conference.
For over a decade I have served as a prominent voice and advocate for diversity throughout the field of nurse anesthesia. My impact is demonstrated by my service and advocacy through mentorship programs to drive diversity within the CRNA profession. I have pioneered innovative programs to increase the number of diverse individuals with the skills necessary to achieve equal access within the healthcare environment, as well as established a faculty fellowship program to increase and retain diverse anesthesia faculty in anesthesia, as well as co-founded the annual ”Multicultural CRNA Conference” highlighting, uplifting, and empowering nurse anesthesiologist of diverse backgrounds.
I am impacting the nursing profession by driving inclusion and creating conversations that allow for communities to build from the classroom to the workforce and to academic settings. My impact occurs through my service and leadership within organizations where I drive sustained change in benchmarks and best practices for the nursing profession, including my own foundation, which has served over 500 individuals since 2020 and is increasing diversity and leadership within the profession through added resources, support, mentoring, and scholarship.
To improve health and achieve health equity, we need nursing leaders who are diverse and infused throughout all areas of the profession.

Personal Statement I am honored to submit my candidacy for the AANA Leadership Identification Committee (LIC).
Throughout my career—as a CRNA, healthcare executive, and retired Colonel in the Air Force Reserve—I have been driven by a singular passion: identifying, developing, and empowering future leaders. Having served as president of the AANA (2024–25), as well as president-elect, vice president, and regional director, I understand the profound responsibility entrusted to those who guide our profession. I also recognize the critical role the Leadership Identification Committee plays in shaping our future.
The LIC is more than a nominating body—it is a steward of the AANA’s legacy and trajectory. Its charge to identify, recruit, and slate qualified candidates; ensure adherence to bylaws; and oversee election procedures requires discernment, integrity, and vision. My leadership experience at the state, national, military, and international levels has prepared me well for this responsibility. The future of the AANA depends on strong, principled, visionary leadership.
During my military service, I served in senior leadership and workforce development roles within the Air Force Medical Service, including the Nurse Corps Developmental Team. I helped cultivate deliberate pathways for leadership growth—identifying talent early, mentoring emerging leaders, and aligning individual strengths with organizational needs. I bring that same disciplined, strategic approach to leadership identification.
At the state level, as twice-elected President of the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and nationally through service on AANA committees including Governance, Professional Development, and PAC, I have worked closely with leaders across the country. These relationships provide broad insight into the talent within our membership and reinforce my commitment to building a representative leadership pool.

Has contributed to the AANA Foundation and CRNA-PAC within the past two years .
Personal Statement I have been a proud Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for 27 years and actively involved in Ohio’s advocacy efforts for the past two decades. I have served at the state level on multiple committees, on the Board of Directors, and as President. The most important thing I have learned is that the advancement of our profession cannot be done alone. It is not enough to be personally involved as advocates, but we must also inspire others to join our efforts. We often think that inspiration causes action, but more frequently, action causes inspiration. This is the “do something principle.” I feel that inspiring not only CRNAs, but SRNAs as well is just as, if not more, important. Student nurse anesthetists have the most to gain and the most to lose if no one advocates. Most students graduating today will have careers spanning at least three decades. I have spoken to students at Ohio programs for years and engaged hundreds of them to join in our advocacy efforts.
I have practiced in all types of anesthesia settings. I have worked in a strict anesthesia care team model where the physician anesthesiologists dictated every move. I have worked in a model with physician anesthesiologists that let me practice to my full scope, and I have worked independently without physician anesthesiologists. I have worked in models where anesthesiologist assistants were prevalent and my scope of practice was lowered to match theirs. I have been an employee, a 1099 private contractor and an owner of an anesthesia group. I have been an educator, practitioner, and advocate of CRNA practice. I helped start CRNA organizations and businesses, such as the Society of Opioid Free Anesthesia (SOFA), Western Reserve Anesthesia Associates (WRAA), Western Reserve Anesthesia Education (WRAE), and the Block Buddy App for iPhone and Android. I have learned from all of these collective experiences and I want to bring those experiences to you and our organization.
In Ohio, I have seen the battles our profession faces firsthand amongst physician groups, hospital organizations, legislators, AAs, and even within our own CRNA family. Our state organization not only performed strategic thinking, we actually carried out strategic actions. We set common goals and we actively executed them. We changed our lobbyist of 25 years; we reorganized our committees; started a new student board; and we partnered with other organizations to advance our cause. We made many decisions, some of which were wise, and some that we quickly learned from and restrategized. The strategic thinking and actions were carried out as a team. I am very fortunate to have been a part of this amazing group of state leaders and I look forward to bringing what I have learned in that experience to the AANA Leadership Identification Committee.
If elected to work for and represent you, I promise to continue making the AANA a member-centric organization. I will work toward a high-performing organization that also provides state-of-the-art education for CRNAs and CRNA prospects. I will advocate and work hard to provide the opportunity for every member to practice at their full scope and ability at both the state and national levels.
The real value in strategic thinking is not just in generating ideas or in making better decisions; it is about building a framework that future-proofs the AANA and gives us the best chance of achieving long-term success.
I am proud to be a CRNA, and this profession has given my family and me more than I could ever give back to it, but that will not stop me from trying to give back more than I have received.

Current Employment: Independent Contractor, Yana Krmic, CRNA, PC, 2009–present.
Personal Statement Hello,
My name is Yana Krmic, and I am seeking a position on the AANA Leadership Identification Committee.
Over the past 17 years as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), I have held various leadership and clinical roles. I have had the privilege of serving and leading nearly 2,000 CRNAs and RRNAs in the State of New York as the president of the New York State Association of Nurse Anesthetists (NYSANA) during some of the most challenging times. This experience has provided me with firsthand knowledge of the bravery, unwavering presence, and clinical expertise of CRNAs working independently during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, I am an Independent Contractor, providing anesthesia in various clinical settings across different states. This opportunity has allowed me to meet many exceptional CRNAs and gain insights into their perspectives on the past and current achievements and shortcomings of the AANA.
I firmly believe that effective leadership requires considering the views and values of as many CRNAs across our nation. As John C. Maxwell once said, ”Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.”
Our members are eager for inspiration and recognition. My goal is to inspire future leaders in our profession, foster collaboration on shared goals, and advocate for our profession based on historical and present facts.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Yana Krmic, CRNA

Personal Statement All my life, I have sought to better understand myself and what it is that makes me who I am. Through life’s hardships and adventures, I have been molded to become the provider I am today. At a young age, the death of a family member first guided my path into healthcare. During high school, it was a teacher who enlightened me about nurse anesthesia, although, I had little knowledge of what anesthesia was at the time. Through nursing school and my first job in the ICU, I developed a sense of involvement in my field and that nurses were much more than pill pushers. As the backbone of healthcare, nurses are the eyes that see what is often overlooked, and to be the voice of the patient who is seldom heard.
Moving from all that I knew in Texas to South Dakota, I attended anesthesia school at Mount Marty College. This was not only where I attended anesthesia school, but also where I joined the US Army Reserves. It wasn’t enough that I became enveloped into the world of anesthesia and what it meant to be a CRNA, but also how to become a soldier and serve in multiple capacities for the people. I became someone that provided care at a person’s most critical and vulnerable moments under anesthesia, but also someone who became of service for the people of the United States and its soldiers as a CRNA within the Army. My journey continued forward as I moved to New Hampshire for my first anesthesia position and my first medical unit, a Forward Surgical Team.
After several years and multiple deployments later, I desired to seek more knowledge and find new ways to provide services for people who could be treated for pain outside of surgery. I continued my education and became certified in Non-Chronic Pain Management at the University of South Florida. Although my time with the military ended after eight years, I want to continue service for the organization that has supported my anesthesia career and start by serving in the AANA Bylaws and Resolutions Committee.

Personal Statement I am excited to apply for the Bylaws and Resolutions Committee of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. My various leadership experiences, commitment to the nurse anesthesiology profession, and proven record of collaborative leadership position me to contribute immediately and effectively.
Over the last several years, I have served the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthesiology in multiple capacities to include president (twice), president-elect (twice), secretary, and trustee. Due to my commitment to removing barriers to practice for CRNAs, I currently serve as co-chair of the Government Relations Committee (GRC). These roles have given me hands-on experience with policy development, the legislative process, and state-level governance. These roles allow me to apply real experience to assist with the development and implementation of bylaws to address the needs of our members and organization. As secretary, I ensured accuracy and clarity in meeting minutes and documentation. As president and trustee, I led discussions that required careful alignment with governed according to our state’s bylaws.
I bring strong skills in bylaw review and revision (having assisted with bylaw amendments multiple times in South Carolina), meticulous attention to detail, a structured approach to legal and procedural language, and the ability to balance tradition with necessary modernization. I communicate clearly and fairly to make sure that we are meeting the needs of CRNAs in our state while preserving the integrity of governing rules.
I am committed to upholding AANA’s mission and ensuring bylaws support effective, ethical governance and member engagement. If selected, I will apply my institutional knowledge, governance training, and collaborative approach to help the committee produce clear, practical, and future-ready bylaws that serve members and leadership alike.
Thank you for considering my application.

Personal Statement I am interested in serving on the Bylaws and Resolutions Committee because I recognize the critical role governance plays in shaping the direction, integrity, and long-term strength of our profession. Sound governance provides the structural foundation that ensures organizational clarity, accountability, and strategic alignment.
My experience as a program director, along with my service on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Education Committee, has provided meaningful insight into national policy development, educational standards, and the rigorous processes required to evaluate and refine professional guidance. These roles strengthened my ability to assess policy language thoughtfully, anticipate operational implications, and balance innovation with regulatory and structural integrity.
Additionally, through multiple leadership roles on the Board of the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of state-level governance, member engagement, and the downstream impact of national decisions. Serving at the state level has reinforced the importance of precise, well-constructed governing documents that support advocacy efforts, protect scope of practice, and promote transparency.
Completion of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology ASCEND Leadership Development Program further strengthened my leadership skills, strategic thinking, and understanding of governance structures, enhancing my ability to contribute thoughtfully and effectively at the national level.
Collectively, these experiences have enhanced my capacity to analyze complex issues, ensure consistency across documents, and steward governance structures with diligence and foresight. I view the bylaws as the constitutional framework of the organization, requiring careful and disciplined oversight. As nurse anesthesia continues to advance in scope, autonomy, and national visibility, it is imperative that our governing documents remain clear, adaptable, and strategically aligned. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to this work in service of our members and the continued advancement of nurse anesthesiology.

Personal Statement My longstanding commitment to professional service, governance, and organizational integrity within the nurse anesthesia profession has prepared me exceptionally well to contribute meaningfully to the AANA Bylaws and Resolutions Committee. Over the course of more than two decades of involvement in state and national leadership roles, I have developed a deep appreciation for the importance of clear, functional bylaws that support transparency, fairness, and the strategic goals of the Association.
My service includes extensive leadership experience within the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists (VANA), culminating in my term as President (2021–22) and Past President (2022–23). These roles required consistent interpretation and application of organizational bylaws, as well as participation in decision making that was both procedurally sound and aligned with AANA principles. In earlier roles such as vice president, director for District 1, and interim treasurer, I gained hands on experience navigating governance processes, managing compliance, and ensuring that organizational actions were grounded in established policy.
Importantly, I bring prior bylaws experience, having served as a member of the VANA Bylaws Committee, where I participated in reviewing, refining, and updating the structural framework guiding the association’s operations. This work strengthened my ability to analyze policy language, identify inconsistencies or gaps, and collaborate across stakeholder groups to develop solutions that are both practical and forward thinking.
My national service further complements these skills. I have served in multiple AANA governance related roles, including the Leadership Identification Committee, Resolutions Committee (Chair), Health and Wellness Committee, Doctoral Mentorship Committee, and committees focused on education, wellness, and professional development. These experiences have given me a broad view of how bylaws shape committee function, organizational identity, and long-term strategic direction.
Throughout my leadership career, I have been consistently recognized for professionalism, integrity, and fairness which all qualities essential to bylaws work. My background as a program director and educator further contributes a deep understanding of consensus building, document clarity, and policy implementation.
I would be honored to bring this experience to the AANA Bylaws and Resolutions Committee and support the association in strengthening governance structures that ensure clarity, inclusivity, and a strong future for the profession.

Education: Doctor of Nursing Practice, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, 2021.
Member of AANA: Since 2019.
State Association Offices: Director, Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA), 2024-present.
State Association Committees: Bylaws & Resolutions Chair, TxANA, 2024-present; Education Committee, 2022-present.
Other Leadership Activities: Excellence in Teaching Award, Baylor College of Medicine, 2025.
Current Employment: The University of Texas at Tyler, Assistant Program Director, 2026-present.
Personal Statement I am running for the AANA Bylaws & Resolutions Committee because I am deeply committed to strong governance, clear policy development, and processes that uphold the integrity of our association. Bylaws are foundational documents that shape how our association leads and makes decisions and, most importantly, ensure accountability to the membership. I value the responsibility that comes with thoughtfully stewarding these documents and would be honored to serve in this role over the next two years.
I currently serve as a director for the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA), which has provided me with a broad perspective on board governance, fiduciary responsibility, and strategic decision-making. Serving in this role has strengthened my ability to evaluate bylaws not only for technical accuracy, but also for their practical implications on association governance and long-term organizational sustainability.
In addition, I serve as chair of TxANA’s Bylaws & Resolutions Committee. Over the past year and a half, I have led the review and revision of our governing documents to implement needed updates for both the association and its members. In this capacity, I have worked closely with elected board members, association management, and legal counsel to address complex governance issues, ensure internal consistency, and align the bylaws with organizational intent, state law, and best practices in nonprofit governance. This experience has reinforced the importance of precision, clarity, and foresight in bylaw development.
I would be honored to bring my state-level governance experience, attention to detail, and commitment to service to the AANA Bylaws & Resolutions Committee in support of the association and its members.
Education: Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia, Marshall University/CAMC School of Nurse Anesthesia, Charleston, West Virginia, 2001.
AANA National Offices and Committees: Resolutions Committee, 2009-10.
State Association Offices: President, West Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (WVANA), 2014-15; President-elect, 2013-14; Vice President, 2008-09; Federal Political Director, 2007-09, 2010-13, 2016-present; Treasurer, 2006-08; Board Member, 2022-present.
State Association Committees: Government Relations Committee Chair, WVANA, 2005-09, 2010-13.
Current Employment: TeamHealth, APRN/CRNA – Anesthesia Special Operations Team, 2023-present.
Personal Statement As a career-long member of the AANA, I want to serve my fellow members. I served on the AANA Resolutions Committee for the 2009 – 2010 term. During that term we were able to address and resolve many outdated items that were on our books. Being a part of that team of fellow CRNA committee members who “cleaned up our bylaws” and updated them to reflect current day “best practices” was a very satisfying experience.
I am seeking your vote because I believe that my previous experience as a member of the Resolutions Committee will allow me to bring relevant experience to the table for you. I also believe that my experience filling multiple state leadership roles also adds to my potential value as a member of this Committee.
