About Membership

How do I join AANA?

AANA is open to CRNAs, RNs, and students of nurse anesthesia programs

For CRNAs

Note: AANA membership runs from September 1 through August 31 annually. AANA does not prorate dues, so if you join/re-join during the middle of the year, you are still responsible for all twelve months of membership.

For International CRNAs

An international member must also be a member of the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA). International members must have completed a program of basic nursing and nurse anesthesia education and be qualified and authorized to practice anesthesia in a country other than the United States. Once you have the documentation including IFNA membership, you can request to become an international member.

For Registered Nurses

A new AANA membership category will be releasing in September 2024 for registered nurses (RNs) or advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) thinking of becoming a CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists. Sign up to be the first to receive more information about this program and explore the RN-APRN membership FAQs.

For Students

If you are entering an accredited nurse anesthesia program, please contact your program administrator for help. They will guide you through the process.

What are the auto-renewal terms and conditions?

AANA Memberships are for a pre-paid term from September 1 to August 31

Auto-renew full payment terms & conditions

By enrolling in the automatic renewal service, you agree that AANA may automatically renew your annual membership and charge your credit card on file, unless you cancel the automatic renewal before September 1.

AANA will automatically renew your annual membership each year on September 1 unless you cancel the automatic renewal service, are no longer eligible for membership, or your credit card is expired.

Auto-renew installment payments terms & conditions

You have selected to pay membership dues in four equal quarterly installments throughout the membership period (September 1–August 31).

Your first payment activates your membership benefits and then your card will be charged quarterly. Once all your payments are complete, your membership is fully processed for the membership period. Payments will be made from the card on file for your account in September, December, March, and June.

By enrolling in the automatic renewal service, you agree that AANA may automatically renew your membership and charge your credit card on file, unless you cancel the automatic renewal before September 1.

You must maintain an active card on file. After September 1, you are responsible for completing all four installment payments. You may request to end your membership at any time, but any remaining installments due within that membership year (September 1–August 31) will be drafted automatically at the time of cancellation. Failure to complete an installment payment will result in loss of membership. To re-instate your membership, you must update your card on file and make up any missed payments.

How do I cancel my membership?

All memberships expire annually

AANA Memberships are for a pre-paid term from September 1 through August 31. The full amount is due September 1 annually, with a 60-day grace period to pay, and dues are not prorated. This means that regardless of when you pay for your annual membership, it will expire on August 31, and your member benefits will no longer be accessible on November 1 if not renewed.

Canceling an annual auto-renewal

Within the renewal form, you can switch your renewal type to remove the auto-draft or request to end your membership. Please do so before September 1.

Caution: If you have NOT removed your auto-renew preference from your account, your card will be drafted on or around September 1. You will be notified one week prior to the draft.

Canceling a quarterly installment auto-renewal

Within the renewal form, you can switch your renewal type to remove the auto-draft at the beginning of the year.

The installments spread your annual payment into four equal payments. You are responsible for all four payments, even if you would like to cancel. You may request to end your membership, but please note that if you have any remaining installments due within that membership year, they will be drafted automatically at the time of cancellation.

You’re expected to maintain an active card on file. If you fail to complete an installment payment, that will result in a loss of your membership. To reinstate your membership, you must update your card on file and catch up on your payments.

Canceling due to retirement

You may request to end your membership and choose to become an Emeritus member if you meet these eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 25 years of Active membership with the AANA
  • Are no longer practicing

Canceling due to a leave of absence or moonlighting

You can downgrade your membership to Inactive status for $50 per year while still maintaining your member benefits like access to insurance, advocacy, and other AANA resources.

Within the renewal form, you can switch your renewal type to Inactive or request to change your membership.

Note: If you are an Inactive, Associate, or Emeritus Member (or if you are not a member) you will not be able to apply for Class A credits or see your CE transcript. Access your membership dashboard to view your membership type.
