AANA Foundation State Advocates are CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists who are AANA members that represent, support, and promote the efforts and activities of the AANA Foundation at the state level both philosophically and financially.
These volunteers present informational and educational materials to their state members at state meetings and act as liaisons between AANA Foundation staff and Board of Trustees and their state association. The Foundation greatly appreciates the efforts of these individuals.

My life’s journey—from a young immigrant navigating a new world to a committed Nurse Anesthesiologist and advocate—is a testament to the power of perseverance and belief. I have been actively involved with the AANA Foundation advocating for the profession with steadfast determination. I understand that keeping Nurse Anesthesiology at the forefront of advanced nursing is essential for advancing healthcare in our country. As a proud member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, I am dedicated to fostering a community based on truth and adaptability, recognizing the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. Advocacy for my profession is not merely a duty; it’s a driving force in my life, reflecting my passion for impactful change and excellence in patient care.
I have been a practicing clinical CRNA for 32 years. Most recently, I’ve switched course and became the Clinical Director for Mount Marty University’s Graduate Program in Nurse Anesthesiology, and enrolled in their Master’s to DNAP cohort. Over my career, I’ve had the privilege to serve our anesthesia community in a variety of roles. I served my first term on the AANA Foundation Board of Trustees from 2016 -2023, and I quickly realized that serving on the foundation board was one of the most enjoyable and personally rewarding volunteer opportunities I’ve ever undertaken. Giving back to the profession that has afforded me such amazing opportunities is only a small token of my gratitude. I truly stand on the shoulders of giants, and can’t wait to see where my second term on the Foundation board will take me.
The AANA Foundation is seeking State Advocates in every state.
