Happy New Year!
I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. As we move into the new year, there are a few current events I want to make sure you are up to date on.
- Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) – It is here! As you know, MACRA goes into full effect this year. Rather than point you to just CMS resources, I also want to make you aware of the AANA’s work to help CRNAs navigate a very complex reimbursement system.
- Check out these links if you missed my post over the holidays about the recent publication of the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Interagency Task Force draft report titled Pain Management Best Practices: Updates, Gaps, Inconsistencies, and Recommendations. Publication of the report triggered a 90-day public comment period. The work of the task force was authorized by section 101 of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016. Our AANA Federal Government Affairs team continues to seek reconsideration of any controversial and detrimental recommendations that may have been put forth by the task force in this report. I will continue to update you as we make progress on this matter.
- There are numerous upcoming AANA Meetings, so if you have never attended an AANA meeting or workshop please click on the link provided to register now! Extensive networking opportunities and educational content is available to serve every member’s needs. The next major meeting of the AANA is the Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators in Houston, Texas, Feb. 14-16. View and register for future meetings and workshops
I look forward to meeting you or hearing from you in the new year!
