Juan Quintana Takes Office as President of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists

Park Ridge, Illinois – Juan Quintana, CRNA, DNP, MHS, a Certified 16jfq200Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), recently took office as the 2015-16 president of the 49,000-member American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). The AANA is located in Park Ridge, Ill.
 
“The next few years will see a great deal of change in healthcare,” said Quintana. “We must seek to optimize utilization of CRNAs and demonstrate the advantages of CRNA practice as our outstanding services are integrated into this new paradigm. My experience managing a business provides me an understanding of clinical practice and the business acumen to capitalize on these opportunities. It is time to educate key stakeholders and patients about the value of CRNAs in today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment.”
 
Quintana is the owner of Sleepy Anesthesia Associates, Winnsboro, Texas, which provides anesthesia for rural hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. He is co-owner of ABC Consultants, LLC, an anesthesia billing company, also in Winnsboro.
 
A former regional director on the AANA board of directors, Quintana has served for the past year as president-elect, working alongside immediate past president Sharon Pearce, CRNA, MSN. He also has served on numerous state and national committees, and has special interests in advocacy, business, reimbursement, research and volunteerism.
 
A CRNA for more than 15 years, Quintana received his doctorate of nursing practice degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and his master’s degree in health science from Texas Wesleyan University, also in Fort Worth. In addition, he earned his bachelor’s degree in science from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas.
