Park Ridge, Illinois – Elizabeth “Betty” Abrams, CRNA, MS, was honored with the AANA Foundation Rita L. LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year Award.

The Rita L. LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year Award recognizes an individual who, like LeBlanc herself, is the personification of goodwill and generosity in both their professional and private lives. LeBlanc was an enthusiastic supporter of the AANA Foundation, a Board of Trustees member, and AANA Region 1 Director (1995-97), as well as serving on many committees at both state and national levels. Known for her unfailing optimism, LeBlanc personified the selfless “can do” spirit of the AANA Foundation and its goals.

Elizabeth Abrams has been volunteering her services to the Healing the Children (New Jersey) organization since 1997. She volunteers her time and expertise as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), traveling to different countries providing much needed anesthesia services for children needing multiple types of surgery. She has made 20 trips to countries such as Kenya, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Thailand, and the Dominican Republic. Abrams has touched the lives of thousands of children with her generosity and expert anesthesia skills.

“Betty donates equipment and supplies to the organization on a monthly basis,” said AANA Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Wilma Gillis, CRNA, BSN, APNP, in presenting the award. “She performs administrative tasks, and packs and prepares supplies for trips she is unable to attend. Abrams is a true role model, and has also inspired many other CRNAs to become Healing the Children volunteers.”

The AANA Foundation congratulates Elizabeth Abrams on being named the 2015 recipient of the Rita L. LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year Award.
