Stephanie Mozdziak Casner, wife of the late William H. Casner, formerly of Branford, Conn., died August 23, 2019.
Daughter of the late John Mozdziak and Sophie Tureck Mozdziak of Meriden, Conn., Casner also was a graduate of Meriden High School, 1944; and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, 1947; where she was part of the Nurse Cadet Corp during World War II. She also attended Hunter College in New York and was a staff nurse at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York City. Casner attended University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, School of Anesthesia. She worked as a nurse anesthetist at Yale New Haven Hospital until 1993 at which time she retired. She also was a member of Bridgeport Hospital Nursing Alumnae and a member of American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She was past president of the Cheshire Historical Society, past chairman of Gaylord Development Board, and former volunteer at Gaylord Hospital, as well as a past member of Friends of Cheshire Library.
Survivors include her daughter, Lauren Riccio and her husband, David; two grandchildren, Alexa Haniff-Riccio and her wife Saira Haniff-Riccio of Florida; and Jeffrey Riccio or New Hampshire; brother Edward Mozdziak of North Carolina; and sister Bea Pugsley of Hartford, as well as nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, in care of arrangements.
