2018 Award Winners

John F. Garde Researcher of the Year Award

John F. GardeThe Researcher of the Year Award is named in memory of John F. Garde, a previous Foundation Trustee, AANA Executive Director and charter member of the AANA Foundation. John was instrumental in the creation of the Foundation and realized the importance of supporting nurse anesthesia long into the future. He was a leader whose accomplishments are remarkable by anyone’s standards. The John F. Garde Researcher of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the practice of anesthesia through research.

Rita L. LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year Award

Rita L. LeBlancThe Philanthropist of the Year Award, established in 2006 by the AANA Foundation,is presented to an individual who represents the spirit of Ms. LeBlanc and hasgone beyond the call of duty as a supporter of the AANA Foundation. The Rita L.LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year donates time, talent, and direct financialsupport to the AANA Foundation, as well as other well-deserving organizations. The recipient of this award demonstrates a strong philanthropic spirit,and through his or her charitable actions motivates others to give ofthemselves.

Advocate of the Year Award

The Advocate of the Year Award, established in 2006 by the AANA Foundation, is presented to an AANA Foundation Advocate for outstanding commitment to the nurse anesthesia profession through both individually supporting the AANA Foundation and also encouraging others to do the same.
