AARP Center to Champion Nursing
The Center to Champion Nursing in America – a joint initiative of AARP, the AARP Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – is addressing the growing nurse and nursing faculty shortage that threatens access to healthcare and quality of care across our nation. AANA is a member of the Champion Nursing Council of national nursing organizations.
Formerly Academy for Health Services Research and Health Policy, AcademyHealth ("Advancing Research, Policy and Practice") serves as a professional home for health services researchers, policy analysts, and practitioners, and a leading non-partisan resource for the best in health research and policy. AcademyHealth also is home to the Coalition for Health Services Research, which serves as its advocacy arm and provides a unified voice for enhanced funding for research and data.
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
Formed in 1985, the Academy, as the only full service organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties, has steadily expanded services to meet its mission to: serve as a resource for nurse practitioners, their patients and other healthcare consumers; promote excellence in practice, education and research; provide legislative leadership; advance health policy; establish healthcare standards; and act as advocate for access to quality, cost effective healthcare.
American Academy of Nursing
The American Academy of Nursing is an organization of distinguished leaders in nursing who have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to the profession and to healthcare. American College of Nurse Midwives

Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN)

Association of Veterans Affairs Nurse Anesthetists

British Anaesthetic & Recovery Nurses Association (BARNA)
Although nurse anaesthetists do not practice in the UK, BARNA has steadily supported the development of this role in this country and is represented on the present NWWA (New Ways of Working in Anaesthesia) project to pilot non-physician provision of anaesthesia in the UK as part of the NHS modernisation programme.

The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) is a project of the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Safety & Quality Initiative, which addresses the issues of patient safety and quality of care arising from changes in healthcare delivery.
National Institute of Nursing Research
The National Institute of Nursing Research supports clinical and basic research to establish a scientific basis for the care of individuals across the life span--from management of patients during illness and recovery to the reduction of risks for disease and disability, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, promoting quality of life in those with chronic illness, and care for individuals at the end of life. This research may also include families within a community context. According to its broad mandate, the Institute seeks to understand and ease the symptoms of acute and chronic illness, to prevent or delay the onset of disease or disability or slow its progression, to find effective approaches to achieving and sustaining good health, and to improve the clinical settings in which care is provided. Swedish Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Intensive Care Nurses
The Swedish Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Intensive Care Nurses was founded in 1962 in Gothenburg by nurse anesthestists from all over Sweden. The association is a non-profit organization for nurses in anesthesia, intensive care and closely associated nursing areas.
