Blood Drive, YMCA Visit, and Public Relations Campaign
The Commonwealth Health/University of Scranton School of Nurse Anesthesia, under the direction of Dr. Caroline Raskiewicz, program administrator, partnered with the American Red Cross, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, to host a blood drive on the ground floor of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Held in recognition of National Nurse Anesthetists Week, the blood drive was successful - 21 units of donated blood were collected.

Student registered nurse anesthetists passed out coloring books and papers, OR hats, OR gloves, and OR booties and spoke about anesthesia as a conventional way of relieving anxiety for preschool children who may have to undergo surgery. They followed up with a question and answer period.

Student registered nurse anesthetists participated in the public relations campaign in the main lobby of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. They displayed posters, pens, pins, and pamphlets that were distributed by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
