Ruma, Ill. – Sister Agnesine (Mary Elizabeth) Jansen, ASC, 87, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ruma Center, passed away at 5:30 am, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, in Belleville Memorial Hospital.
 
She was born to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Van der Haar) Jansen on June 14, 1924, in St. Rose.
 
She made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1942, and perpetual profession July 1, 1947. 
 
Sister Agnesine was a nurse anesthetist who served at St. Clement's Hospital in Red Bud, from 1946 to 1947, 1948 to 1957 and 1960 to 1963. She worked at St. Vincent's Hospital in Taylorville, from 1957 to 1960 and 1963 to 1971. Her longest years of service were at St. Joseph's Hospital in Murphysboro, from 1971-2005.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clem; and three sisters, Sister Mary De Sales, ASC, Dorothy (Virgil) Diekemper and Agnes (Lewis) Huegen.
 
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Ruma Center Chapel, with Father Barry Fischer, CPPS, officiating, with reflections by Sister Jan Renz, ASC. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel in Ruma. Wake service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the chapel. Interment will be in Convent Cemetery.
