Sametta Katz passed suddenly and peacefully at home on July 13, 2011 in Sacramento, Calif. She was born April 14, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and grew up in Weirton, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Max and Sarah Reifman.
Sam had a long career as a CRNA at Kaiser Hospitals in Sacramento, including the opening of the South Sacramento facility. Sam was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending all her grandson's events. She was a loving, caring, and devoted mother to her son Jon. Sam valued her relationships with family and friends. She maintained close ties with her extended family, organized family get-togethers and enjoyed a tight knit neighborhood community. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and can best be remembered as someone who loved kids, adored shopping and sharing her opinion.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her son, Jon (Lisa), three beloved grandsons, Logan, Colton, and Brock Katz; brother, William 'Buzz' Reifman; sister, Marilou 'Lou' (John) Wagner; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at Lombard Funeral Home, 1550 Fulton Ave. on Tuesday, July 19th from 4-8 p.m. and interment at the Chapel of Peace, 6200 Stockton Blvd., on Wednesday July 20th, 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at College Greens Cabana Club, 2707 Notre Dame Drive, 95826. Her favorite charity was Make-A-Wish Foundation.
