Jo Betty Rosier, 93, formerly of Columbia, passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2011, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Miss.
 
A graveside service was Friday, July 29, at Sallis Cemetery in Sallis, Miss.
 
Mrs. Rosier was born to Thomas Vernon and Hettie Branch Donald on Oct. 14, 1917, in West Helena, Ark.
 
She became a registered nurse in 1939 and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in 1947. Mrs. Rosier worked at both University Hospital and Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital while living in Columbia until her retirement from nursing. She was honored in 2002 as the Alumnus of the Year by Holmes Community College in Mississippi.
 
Mrs. Rosier came to Columbia in the 1970s after working for several years with Aramco Oil Co., in Saudi Arabia. Previously, Mrs. Rosier had worked in Midland, Texas, and New York City. While living in Columbia, she met Russell J. Rosier, and they were married Nov. 12, 1976. She was the love of his life. Mr. Rosier preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1983. The Rosiers were members of Missouri United Methodist Church until Mr. Rosier’s death and Mrs. Rosier’s move to Mississippi in 1996.
 
Mrs. Rosier also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Vernon Donald, Jr.
 
Jo Betty will be remembered by her friends in Columbia for her exuberant spirit and enthusiasm for life. Contributions are suggested to a charity of your choice.
