In Memoriam: Doris Bowen

1935-2014
 
Doris Bowen, 79, died at her Chattanooga home on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. She had been under the care of Hospice for a number of weeks and the family was present at the time of her passing.
 
Doris grew up on a farm in southwest Michigan. After high school, she obtained a degree and became a registered nurse. Five years later, in 1963, she graduated from Madison Hospital's School of Nurse Anesthesia. In 1972, Doris began work for Erlanger Hospital. A few years later, Doris began working for Memorial Hospital's Anesthesia Associates where she worked for most of her tenure in Chattanooga.
 
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bowen.
 
Doris is survived by her three children, Todd (Rhonda) Bowen, Julie (Amos) Smith and Jana Bowen. Doris's grandchildren, Joe Palmer, Brooke Aldridge, Pam Smith, Casey and Logan Bowen, will miss their loving grandmother.
 
Family visitation will be in the Greeting Room at Signal Mountain First Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. with a service celebrating her life at 4 p.m.
