Charles G. McCombs Jr
., 61, of Greensburg, Pa., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in Excela Latrobe Hospital. McCombs was born Dec. 19, 1951, in Latrobe, and was the son of the late Twila E. (Ramsey) and Charles G. McCombs Sr. Charles was a history and Civil War buff and an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He worked for 38 years at the Excela Latrobe Hospital in the Anesthesia Department. He also taught at the Excela Health Anesthesia School clinically and didactically for 38 years. He was co-director of the R & R Review Course, helping thousands of student registered nurse anesthetists prepare for their certification exam.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Michele (Yanos) McCombs; two daughters, Jennifer (Doug) Siko and Jamie (Greg) Paterno; and the pride and joy of his life, his five grandchildren, Zachary, Bailey, Michael, Anna and Madilyn; along with his two brothers, Lynn McCombs and Jay (Robbie) McCombs; and his best buddy (dog), Milo. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Jean Yanos; sister-in-law, Andrea Petrill; and brother-in-law, Keith (Laurie) Yanos; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Pa. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Mary Ann Milne officiating from the New Life Methodist Church, Jeannette. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
