In Memoriam: Beverly Krause

Beverly Ann Krause, CRNA, MS

Submitted by Ross Verbisky, CRNA, retired
Krause, Beverly Ann (nee Schenkel), fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away on May 22, 2014.
Loving mother of Diana (Bill Kennedy) Armstrong, John (Karen) Krause, Matthew (Melissa Williams) Krause and David (Debra) Krause; proud grandmother of Emily, Nick, Kate, Rebecca, Luke, Andrew, Benjamin and Aiden; great-aunt of Kyle and Shelby; dear sister of the late Marlene Carter and Edward Schenkel; beloved friend and traveling buddy of the late Dee Margrabe; dear cousin of Dianne Deachan; and former wife and dear friend of Otto Krause. Beverly was an aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Beverly graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing and Barnes School of Nurse Anesthesia. She was a dedicated advocate of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). She was a mentor to hundreds of students and was honored to be named the 1993 AANA National Clinical Instructor of the Year. She held various offices in MoANA including President, served on the AANA programming committee, and was the first CRNA to serve on the U.S. Pharmacopeia Anesthesia Review Board.
Beverly loved being a grandma, mom, friend and nurse anesthetist. When she wasn't working or traveling, you would usually find her playing bridge or at a sporting event. She was an avid fan of professional sports teams: baseball, Cardinals; football, Cardinals and the Rams; but you would hear her cheering the loudest for her favorite amateur athletes, her kids and grandkids.
Bev began living the dream after she retired. She and Dee traveled the world, visiting places that she had only read about in the past. They went on cruises through the Western Caribbean, South America, Panama Canal and Alaska. They saw the pyramids in Egypt, changing of the guard in London, and climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. Bev lived a full life and would ask that you shed a few tears for her, but then get on with the business of living.
