Carmeline Victoria Khazei, 77, died July 16, 2011, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H.
 
She was born in Kittanning, Pa., March 16, 1934, to Antina and John Picardi, who had emigrated from Italy. She was raised in Kittanning, surrounded by a loving and caring family and many close friends. She relished spending time with her grandparents, Augusto and Anita Mantini who also emigrated from Italy.
 
Carmeline was a star student and worked as a model in her youth. She graduated Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1955, and received her degree in anesthesia from Mercy Hospital in 1959. That year, working in the OR, Carmeline met the man who was to become her husband of 52 years. The couple went on to have four children. They settled in Bedford, N.H., in 1968, where Carmeline continued her practicing as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesist and also held a variety of other nursing jobs.
 
Carmeline Khazei is survived by her devoted husband, Amir J. Khazei, M.D. of Bedford, N.H.; their four children: Alan Khazei, Darla Khazei, Mia Khazei, and Lance Khazei; their spouses; her two grandchildren: Mirabelle Khazei and Reece Khazei; a brother, John Picardi; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford, N.H. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to City Year or to Animal Rescue League of N.H.
