Nurse Misidentified as CRNA

A nurse who, according to Outpatient Surgery News "allegedly injected herself with fentanyl destined for a surgical patient," was misidentified as a nurse anesthetist in the press.

Both the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists (MANA) have identified that Sarah May Casareto, RN, is not a CRNA. Apparently the state's attorney's office misidentified Casareto’s profession, and the media picked it up.

MANA is aggressively contacting the media to correct the Casareto references to nurse, and the AANA is assisting in identifying news sources. Outpatient Surgery News has corrected its story.
