The Association of Veteran’s Affairs Nurse Anesthetists, AVANA, Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee are unveiling an exciting new opportunity for Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) in leadership development, the AVANA Leadership Project for SRNAs (ALPS).
AVANA is seeking to support SRNA education and development of leadership skills. AVANA believes that by encouraging SRNAs to become actively involved in pertinent educational and advocacy and leadership activities, a stronger and more active group of future CRNAs will be built. This promises to be a very enriching educational experience and career development opportunity for the two SRNAs who will be selected to participate.
Through this project AVANA will select and sponsor two outstanding SRNA applicants to attend meetings in 2014. The SRNAs will be asked on the application to choose to attend either the AVANA Annual Meeting or the AANA Mid-Year Assembly.
A. AVANA Annual Conference, 2014 Location: Pittsburgh, Pa.
Airfare and two night’s hotel accommodations will be sponsored. The SRNA will meet with the host of the conference and will be asked to present one lecture at the conference on topic of their own research, interest or choice. The SRNA will be asked to stay for the conference for one or two days and to join AVANA members for the last evening dinner banquet.
B. AANA Mid-Year Assembly, Washington, D.C.
Airfare and two nights hotel accommodations will be sponsored. The SRNA will meet with those AVANA members who attend Mid-Year Assembly. The SRNA will enjoy a sponsored meal and discussion with AVANA members and will attend the House and Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs with them.
The SRNAs will be asked to complete and send all application materials between October 1, 2013 and December 1, 2013.
The required application materials will include:
- Graduation Date
- Curriculum Vitae
