The Research in Action Award, presented from 1984 through 1995, was established in 1983 by the AANA Program Committee to recognize valuable research contributions to the nurse anesthesia progression. The Award honored scientific research in the clinical, educational or administrative field that represents the most impressive effort in furthering the science of anesthesia.
The Research in Action Award was sponsored by Critikon, Inc. The Award included several components:
The recipient was given $500 and a crystal plaque inscribed with the recipient’s name and the year of presentation. The recipient’s name was also added to a plaque bearing the names of previous recipients, which is displayed in the AANA Executive Office.
The anesthesia school of the recipient’s choice was given a research grant of $500.
All individuals or non-CRNAs who had been selected to present the results of their research at the Research in Action session at the AANA Annual Meeting were considered for the Award.
