Purpose
The Public Relations Recognition Award was established in 1981 by the Public Relations Committee
to honor and officially recognize the state association, school, group, or CRNA that has
contributed the most to the positive image of the nurse anesthesia profession during the year.
In 2003, to acknowledge the growing interest in public relations among members and state
associations, AANA expanded the award to include three categories: Best Promotional Effort for
National Nurse Anesthetists Week, Best Public Relations Efforts by a Small State Association, and
Best Overall Public Relations Effort for the Past Year.
In 2005 a fourth category - Best Public Relations Effort by an Organization
Not Affiliated with a State Association - was added. In 2006 it was expanded to include entries
by individuals, small groups, and companies.
Award
The Public Relations Recognition Award, an individual plaque, is presented during the AANA Annual
Meeting. The recipient’s name is also inscribed on a plaque that is displayed in the AANA
Executive Office.
Eligibility
Any state association, education district, hospital, clinic, educational institution, individual
CRNA, CRNA group, company, or other entity that has prepared and submitted evidence of positive
public relations activities for CRNAs during the year shall be considered for the Recognition
Award.
