Our 2017 research initiatives include health services, clinical and educational topics. In addition, the annual fund supports scholarships, fellowship, research grants, workshops, and more.

 RISE Above

Research In Safety & Effectiveness is essential to validate and strengthen the profession. The AANA Foundation is embarking on the campaign to RISE Above to fund major research studies that advance the profession and improve patient safety. The three-year campaign aims to raise $1 million to fund health services research that will inform healthcare policy affecting patient care processes and patient/provider interactions. Ultimately, the research will educate the spectrum of heathcare stakeholders about the value and quality that CRNAs bring to their patients.
Without this research, proving the value of CRNAs is difficult. We welcome you to join us as we RISE Above to further advance and protect your practice and your future. Please visit our RISE Above website to learn more.

 Scholarships and Fellowships

Sponsoring a Nurse Anesthesia Student Scholarship or CRNA Fellowship
You are invited to participate in this worthwhile initiative. A student scholarship or a CRNA fellowship may be sponsored by an individual or an organization. This program provides assistance to students involved in a nurse anesthesia program and CRNAs enrolled in doctoral study. Minimum awards of $3,000 each will be granted annually. In lieu of a student scholarship application fee, new scholarship donors will be charged an annual administrative fee of $150 for a $3,000 scholarship and $250 for a $5,000 scholarship. In establishing the criteria, flexibility has been provided for a sponsor to:
  • Add a specific criterion (i.e., a state association may want the student recipient to come from that state).
  • Indicate a name in which the scholarship is to be given.
  • Describe the specific purpose for establishing the scholarship or fellowship to be used when publicizing it.
  • Decide on an annual basis whether to continue sponsoring the scholarship or fellowship.
To establish a scholarship or fellowship to be awarded, complete and return the Sponsor Application Form along with payment. Deadline: December 1, 2017. If funding cannot accompany the application upon submission, please contact the AANA Foundation at 847-655-1170 or foundation@aana.com.

 Memorial Gifts/Tributes

Your gift to the AANA Foundation can be made in honor of or in memory of someone special. Click below to read more about memorial gift and tribute possibilities.

 Friends for Life

The Friends for Life program helps support the future of the nurse anesthesia profession through meaningful, lasting gifts. The most common planned gifts are tax favored bequests, trusts, gift annuities and life insurance policies. The cash minimum to join is $25,000 within a one year period.
The deadline to join Friends for Life is June 15. Friends for Life donors are recognized at the AANA Annual Meeting and are acknowledged with beautifully carved and engraved pieces of crystal artwork that are on display permanently in the lobby of the AANA building. Friends for Life donors embrace the Foundation’s mission of advancing nurse anesthesia through education and research and thus envision the need for future funding.
If you are interested in becoming a Friend for Life or in learning more about how to make a substantial tax favored contribution through a Planned Gift, please contact Nat Carmichael at (847) 655-1175 or by e-mail at ncarmichael@aana.com

The AANA Foundation’s endowment program is vitally important to securing the future for the nurse anesthesia profession. Our endowments provide support to students and CRNAs through scholarships and research funding. All funds deposited in an endowment fund shall be held in trust by the AANA Foundation Board of Trustees. These funds are invested in accordance with the general investment guidelines of the AANA Foundation. Click below to read more about Endowment options.

 Event Sponsorship

The Foundation hosts fundraising events at the AANA Annual Congress and Assembly of School Faculty each year. Your donation can support these events which offer social and networking opportunities when CRNAs and students from across the country gather together to connect. Designate your donation on the online giving page, or contact Luanne Irvin, AANA Foundation Development Officer, at (847) 655-1173 or lirvin@aana.com for more information about upcoming events.
