Vegas - The Stars Come Out at Night

The AANA Foundation Presents...

Lynn Macksey

I decided to go to nurse anesthesia school after 27 years of being an ICU nurse…yes…I was 45 years old.  Without even a little drama, school was the hardest thing I’ve EVER done.  And while school was not easy, I am thankful everyday that I chased after my dream and made it. Since graduation, I have had three AANA Journal articles published, two pocket-guides (Nurse Anesthesia Pocket Guide and Pediatric Anesthetic and Emergency Drug Guide), one textbook (Surgical Procedures and Anesthetic Implications and a board-review book (with Kelly Wiltse Nicely – CRNA Certification Exam Review) published.  I’ve done lectures at both regional and state AANA meetings and have been asked to do two one-hour lectures in Las Vegas at the national meeting (thrilled about that!!).  All while I worked full-time at a big Level 1 trauma center.  I just started at UNC Chapel Hill and work with a wonderful group of people there! I have been married 28 years to an amazing husband and have two wonderful kids, Kevin 23 and Kim 20. Oh, and we have the best, cutest rescue dog ever…his name is Toby.
