Nurse anesthetist, 1950s   Gertrude Fife and Miriam Shupp, 1940s

The AANA Archives preserves the history of the AANA, and by extension the history of the nurse anesthesia profession, through items that document the activities of the AANA since its founding in 1931. Documents, publications, photographs, memorabilia, audiovisual items, and anesthesia equipment are included in the Archives' collections. The AANA Library comprises a collection of books and journals on anesthesia and related healthcare topics.

The Archives-Library provides reference services to the AANA Board of Directors, members, and the general public on the history of the AANA and nurse anesthesia. The Archives-Library also provides assistance in locating published information on anesthesia-related topics.
