When attending AANA Meetings, ensure a safe and healthy environment; be conscious of your special privilege to care for yourself and others:

Use alcohol in a responsible manner:

  • Know your limit
  • Don't drink on an empty stomach
  • Space your drinks
  • Use caution in combining prescription and over-the counter drugs with alcohol
  • Don't use alcohol or drugs to make yourself feel better when you're depressed

Be aware of signs of acute alcohol intoxication:

  • Unconscious or semi-conscious and cannot be awakened
  • Cold, clammy, pale or bluish skin
  • Breathing is slow, less than eight times per minute
