AORN, ACS, AANA and ASA Host
Fifth Executive Symposium on Surgical Patient Safety

The Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), The American College of Surgeons (ACS), The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), and The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) will host the fifth Executive Symposium on Surgical Patient Safety on July 15-17, 2007, at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa in Beaver Creek, Colo. The symposium provides an opportunity for networking with members of the surgical team and industry executives to discuss emerging issues in surgical settings to improve patient safety.

This year, the symposium reconvenes to further discuss patient safety with the theme "Creating a Culture of Safety."

Speakers include:

  • Mark Warner, MD, professor of anesthesiology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He will kick off the event Sunday evening by sharing his thoughts on "Future Directions in Perioperative Safety."
  • Steve Harden, president, LifeWings Partners LLC. On Monday, he will present "A Blueprint for Creating a Culture of Safety."
  • Joseph Grenny, president/CEO, VitalSmarts. The well-known author of Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations.
  • Christine Zambricki, CRNA, FAAN. "Communicating with the C-Suite."
  • Lena M. Napolitano, MD, FACS. "Expanding the Time Out."

The conference will end with a series of success stories shared by hospital teams from throughout the country. There will be a reception and dinner on Sunday evening, and the conference will conclude by Tuesday noon. Hospital teams are being encouraged to attend and there is a team registration fee.
