The Opening Ceremonies will bring attendees together for a rousing beginning to an eventful, meaningful Annual Meeting on Sunday, August 5, 9:30 a.m. in Moscone Center West Room 3006-3012.
Following greetings by President Debra Malina, CRNA, DNSc, MBA, Chaplain Tsung-Yu Pan will deliver the traditional Opening Ceremonies Invocation, and the South Bay Recruiting Company Color Guard will present the Colors of the United States.
The Annual Meeting Ceremonies is traditionally a time to honor individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the nurse anesthesia profession. The following awards will be presented: Program Director of the Year; Didactic Instructor of the Year; Clinical Instructor of the Year; Researcher of the Year; Rita L. LeBlanc Philanthropist of the Year; and Public Relations Recognition Awards. The ceremonies will also feature the induction of 2012 AANA Foundation Friends for Life.
The Ceremonies will feature entertainment by the Coats, a vocal band started on the street corners of Seattle, Washington's famous Pike Place Market. Singing for tourists, locals, fish vendors, and fellow buskers, their humble ambitions of earning a few clams to fight off the tuition bills quickly evolved into a full-time international performance career. They've since won national vocal competitions, sung for the President of the United States, and have shared the stage with Ronnie Milsap, Trisha Yearwood, Montgomery Gentry, The Beach Boys, Tanya Tucker, Billy Dean, Crystal Gayle, and Colin Ray.
