Saturday Sessions Welcome Students

The AANA welcomes student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) to the Annual Meeting by offering a full range of activities and programs to get them excited about their future profession and professional association. Two sessions will address the specific concerns of SRNAs on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Student Session

At the Student Session, students will learn about topics important to their future as nurse anesthetists and vote for the next student representative to the AANA Education Committee. The session will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Mirage Grand Ballroom. Speakers will include Elizabeth Grost, RN, BSN, fiscal year 2013 student representative to the Education Committee; Scott Rigdon, CRNA, MPH, a former student representative to the AANA Education Committee who is currently practicing in Grants Pass, Ore.; and Garry Brydges, CRNA, DNP, ACNP-BC, chief nurse anesthetist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from each of the candidates for the next student representative to the AANA Education Committee and place their vote.  See the candidates' bios and photos here. The winner will be announced at the Student Luncheon on Monday, Aug. 12, 1 p.m., in the Grand Ballroom.

Student Focus Session

Limited to the first 90 participants (first-come, first-served), this students-only session offers SRNAs the chance to exchange views about issues specific to them and their educational programs in a frank, open-forum setting. Moderated by Elizabeth Broome, RN, BSN, CCRN, student representative to the Public Relations Committee, the session will be held from 4 to 5.30 p.m., in St. Croix A.
