Members Gather to Influence the Shape of the Association at Annual Business Meeting

On Sunday, Aug. 30, AANA members gathered to hear the state of the association and to vote on bylaw amendments and resolutions at the Annual Business Meeting. This year’s meeting marked the first time that the meeting was live streamed. More than 400 members logged in to watch the meeting in real time.

Resolutions and Bylaws Debated During Business Meeting

After many hours of parliamentary-style debate, the end of the 2015 AANA Business Meeting resulted in several new resolutions and bylaws and several proposals that were not passed.

Edwards Lifesciences Joins AANA as Premier-Level Corporate Partner

On Sunday, Aug. 30, at the beginning of the Annual Business Meeting, AANA President Sharon Pearce, CRNA, MSN, announced that Edwards Lifesciences has joined the AANA as a Corporate Partner at the Premier Level. Jeremy Curtis, vice president of marketing for Edwards, presented a check for $100,000 to President Pearce.

FPDs Meet to Strengthen the CRNA Voice in Washington 

The Annual Congress meeting of America’s AANA Federal Political Directors took place Sunday afternoon in the Convention Center, intending to strengthen the CRNA voice in Washington this fall and during the 2016 national election year​. 

State Reimbursement Specialists to Meet on Monday  

To help strengthen nurse anesthesia reimbursement, each state association has named one or more AANA State Reimbursement Specialists (SRSs) to strengthen relationships with major health plans, hospital and ambulatory surgery center associations, and with the Medicaid program and Medicare administrative contractors.  And at AANA Annual Congress, SRSs are slated to meet Monday at the Federal Advocacy/CRNA-PAC booth in the Exhibit Hall, to network with one another and get updates on critical reimbursement issues.
