The role and value of CRNAs in today’s healthcare system comes to life in a compelling, new, documentary-style video  that premiered during the AANA Annual Congress Opening Ceremonies to thunderous applause 

Medtronic to Donate Laryngoscopes to Educational Programs 

On Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Assembly of School Faculty, AANA corporate partner Medtronic announced that it plans to donate two McGrath MAC Enhanced Direct Laryngoscopes to each of the 115 COA-accredited nurse anesthesia educational programs through the AANA. To learn more about the laryngoscopes and thank them for their generous donation, visit Medtronic in booth 300 in the Exhibit Hall.

Story of Anesthesia Unfolds Today

Edmond Eger II, MD, will present “The Wondrous Story of Anesthesia—Where Nurses Led and Where They Followed” from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom E-J. During the session, Eger will cover how anesthesia was discovered, developed and delivered, how it increased in quality, and how anesthesia shaped medicine by enabling surgery.​

Members of the AANA Peer Assistance Advisors Committee (PAAC) will present on recognizing substance use disorder (SUD) in the workplace and what to do about it on Monday, Aug. 31, in room 355 from 2 to 4 p.m.
 
 

 

Mastering Peer Support: Debriefing Teams and Individuals after Adverse Events

A panel of CRNAs with expertise in different aspects of trauma will lecture and lead the highly interactive session, Mastering Peer Support: Debriefing Teams and Individuals after Adverse Events, Monday, Aug. 31, in Room 355 from 10 a.m. to noon. ​

Exhibit Hall Provides Glimpse of the Future of Anesthesia

A wine and cheese reception will mark the official kickoff of the 2015 Exhibit Hall from 3:15 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Come and mingle with exhibitors over cocktails while learning about emerging technology and ways to make practice and administration easier.

A special area of the Exhibit Hall is the Product Theater, which will give special exhibitors time to showcase their products and provide a more detailed explanation for CRNAs. ​

Consistent with the AANA’s mission to protect and advance CRNA practice, AANA members at the Nurse Anesthesia Annual Congress and at home both have the opportunity to support CRNA practice by taking action today to support veterans access to healthcare provided by CRNAs and other APRNs.

Federal Political Directors to Meet on Sunday 

The Annual Congress meeting of America’s AANA Federal Political Directors takes place Sunday afternoon in the Convention Center, with a program intended to strengthen the CRNA voice in Washington this fall and during the 2016 national election year. 



  

What Does Your AANA Washington Office Do for You? 

The AANA has an office in Washington right on Capitol Hill to fight for nurse anesthesia practice, reimbursement, and educational funding on behalf of the patients, practice, and profession of nurse anesthesia.
